Job Description: Older Person's Autism Liaison Service (OPALS) Challenging and rewarding work environment Work for one of Australia's leading hospital groups Part time fixed term until 31/12/2025, 8 hours per week About the Role The Psychologist will facilitate the implementation and ongoing development of OPALS to ensure the service is in line with evidence based contemporary models of assessment.
It is an innovative service and we will be working with Autism services to tailor assessments to the needs of older adults.
This position will support stakeholder engagement and reporting to ensure financial and key performance indicators are achieved.
Optimise service activity, quality targets, reporting, research Review team processes, policies, procedures Support staff professional development and facilitate supervision Day to day support of OPALS functioning and management Develop relationships with key stakeholders in health, research, education and within the community to promote best practice service delivery and patient care Facilitate progress reports for Service Manager and funding body Classifications for this position will range from Psychologist Grade 3 PL1 - PL4 ($106,158 - $121,477per annum pro rata) Your Contribution APHRA registration Postgraduate qualifications At least 7 years of relevant experience Driver's licence A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain ? Discounts and Promotions always available through our Foundation Regular opportunities for professional development to assist you to reach your career goals Culture of continuous improvement About the Older Person's Autism Liaison Service Older Person's Autism Liaison Service (OPALS) is funded for a 12 month pilot program until end of December 2025 to provide a specialist outpatient and outreach autism assessment service for older adults.
Older adults frequently have complex co-morbidities and limited resources available to them.
Complications associated with cognitive change, sensory impairment, medical comorbidities and psychosocial stressors lead to older adults with undiagnosed autism and their caregivers extra challenges adapting to change in later life.
Specialist assessment will ensure the specific needs of older adults with autism are addressed to enhance care for consumers and their carers.
The service is part time, will comprise a mental health clinician clinic coordinator, consultant psychiatrist and mental health clinician to provide a specialist outpatient autism assessment service for older adults.
There will be capacity for some outreach depending on the needs of consumers, such as those residing in residential aged care facilities from inner east to the east and northern areas of Melbourne.
Improve the integration of primary care and specialist mental health services.
