Emergency Response Operations Manager

The Emergency Response Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring Simtars' emergency response operational readiness.
Reporting to the Director of the Mine Safety Technology Research Centre (MSTRC) and working closely with the Principal Scientist of Mine Safety Technology (MST), the role involves managing operational procedures, equipment, maintenance, external supplier and service contracts.
Additionally, the manager oversees the operations and logistics of the emergency service.
This role collaborates with internal stakeholders within RSHQ, including the inspectorate and the Serious Incident Investigations Unit (SIIU), as well as external groups such as the Queensland Mines Rescue Service (QMRS) and other mining clients.
Seeking an emergency response manager to ensure operational readiness, coordinate logistics and enhance Simtars' technical emergency response service.
Key duties include:
Leading the Mine Safety Technology Research Centre emergency response operational support and administration staff.
Ensuring the management of assets, systems, and equipment for all MSTRC emergency response activities are maintained, including the Mobile Gas Laboratory maintenance and deployment, 3D laser scanning instruments and software maintenance, capital and asset management.
Managing emergency support service logistics and operations including on-call team rosters, coordination of logistics and finance during emergency response deployment, maintaining operational policies, procedures and risk assessments relating to all emergency response, communications with site and stakeholders for coordination emergency response logistics.
Managing commercial client engagement and licensing contracts.
Managing all goods and services contracts associated with MSTRC Safegas, Camgas software and future system and software development.
Providing broader business operational support to other MSTRC and research activities including budgeting, capital and procurement.
Project management support including logistical and procurement activities for research and externally funded projects.
Identifying current and emerging corporate, financial and organisational issues which impact on MSTRCs effectiveness, service delivery and achievements and formulating proposals and/or recommendations that address financial, human resource and resource management issues.
Role requirements:
No essential requirements for this role; however, experience in leading operations, logistics, capital and asset management, project management, and emergency response systems planning would be highly regarded.
Knowledge of the mining and resource industry emergency response and preparedness procedures would be desirable.
Demonstrated experience in an operational management role.
Demonstrated experience in coordinating logistics and teams including experience with shift work, on-call or after-hours roster arrangements.
Experience in purchasing, procurement, and asset management.
