About Neonatal Services Neonatal Services at the Women's provides care to approximately 1500 infants admitted to NICU each year, with around 250 infants below 32 weeks' gestation at birth.
The majority (approximately 85%) of infants are inborn.
A range of subspecialist services are readily available from the Royal Children's Hospital, which is in close proximity to the Women's.
Neonatal Services has a strong history of both independent and collaborative research, and has been a leader in clinical research within Australasia and internationally.
The primary research interests of the department have been related to respiratory care and resuscitation at birth, neonatal neurology/neurodevelopment, and neonatal infection.
About the role We are looking for a skilled and motivated Neonatologist to join our team of committed medical, nursing, allied health and research staff who are primarily focused on improving the care and outcomes for babies and their families.
In this role you will provide clinical care of babies at the Women's, especially those in NICU, and will participate in the education, training, research and administrative activities of Neonatal Services as agreed with the Director (Medical).
You'll actively participate in quality assurance and accreditation activities as required, pursue personal professional development and act as a member of the multidisciplinary team of Neonatal Services.
About you Experience/Qualifications/Competencies Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a specialist in Neonatal-Perinatal MedicineAn appropriate postgraduate qualification (FRACP or equivalent) in paediatrics, with specific advanced training or experience in neonatal-perinatal medicineEssential Criteria Primary medical degree MBBS or equivalentRegistration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed in accordance to the Medical Specialists (Victorian Public Health Sector) (AMA Victoria/ASMOF) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2022 - 2026.
