The Role
A high-profile opportunity has emerged for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) with strong financial acumen and CPA or CA qualifications to lead a dynamic ASX-listed media and communications group. This role will provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership across a global portfolio of agencies, championing sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and a culture of creativity and innovation. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the COO will oversee daily operations while strategically positioning the company for stable, organic growth. This role requires a leader with a robust finance background who can deliver value to shareholders while upholding the creative independence of each agency within the group.
Responsibilities Lead the three-year strategic planning and annual budgeting cycle, setting divisional targets, managing costs, cash flow, and capital. Ensure compliance with ASX financial reporting requirements and maintain high standards of transparency and accuracy. Build and execute financial strategies that secure funding for long-term growth while managing relationships with financial institutions. Implement a "Centre of Excellence" model across the group, driving economies of scale and automating processes to enhance cost efficiencies. Provide strong, positive leadership to a high-performing global finance and operations team. Lead Investor Relations, articulating the company's vision and future strategy to expand the investor base and maintain relationships with existing investors. Develop relationships with new investors and analysts to strengthen the group's financial position. Collaborate with the Board on ASX governance, compliance, and risk management strategies. Spearhead mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, from due diligence to integration, supporting the company's growth agenda. Drive a culture of leadership excellence and foster an inclusive, high-performance environment that promotes creativity and innovation across the organisation. Key Competencies: ASX Governance and Financial Acumen: A proven track record of managing governance and regulatory compliance for ASX-listed companies. The ability to lead financial planning, forecasting, and reporting to meet both operational goals and investor expectations with high integrity and reliability. Leadership in Multinational Operations: Extensive experience managing complex global operations across diverse regions, with a focus on operational efficiency, growth, and adaptability to changing environments. Strategic Vision and Execution: Ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day demands, distilling complexity into actionable strategy while maintaining a clear focus on objectives and making informed, data-driven decisions. Influence and Relationship Building: Strong communication skills to inspire and align stakeholders, navigating organisational dynamics with diplomacy and transparency. Ideal Candidate
