The ACT Education Directorate seeks passionate and aspiring third-year and fourth-year undergraduate, or second year masters students to apply for our Pre-service Teacher Program, securing your future as a new educator before you graduate.
Our Permit to Teach Program is an employment-based pathway for aspiring students completing an initial teacher education (ITE) course.

In ACT public schools, you can teach in a range of school settings, including preschool to year 6 primary schools, years 7 to 10 high schools, larger preschool to year 10 schools, and in colleges teaching years 11 and 12.

Have positive classroom management skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

Eligibility requirements To be able to apply for an offer of conditional employment: Be an Australian citizen and/or be a permanent resident and/or hold a valid student visa.

Conditions of offer: Suitable applicants will need to meet the following conditions prior to commencing their employment as a teacher with the ACT Education Directorate: Initial Teacher Education qualification completion within three years of the early offer.
*Pre-service teachers from the following universities can commence teaching on a Restricted Permit to Teach once minimum course requirements have been satisfied: Australian Catholic University Charles Darwin University University of Canberra All pre-service teachers from Australian universities nation-wide can commence teaching on an Unrestricted Permit to Teach once course requirements are met.
