YOUR ROLE As a Principal, you will lead a joy-filled community where students, staff, and families can flourish within a Catholic context. Your leadership will enable the vision of the school to be realized, creating an environment where everyone can reach their full potential. The role of the Principal is crucial across the MACS system, as their faith and educational leadership enables the school's vision to be realized. This role will work in collaboration with MACS, staff members, local Parish Priest, and the broader School community to achieve the identified goals of the School.
ABOUT ST MARY'S PRIMARY SCHOOL St Mary's Primary School is a welcoming co-educational Catholic School situated in the picturesque township of Castlemaine in Victoria, with students attending from the surrounding areas. The school offers diverse learning opportunities within a nurturing setting that inspires students to thrive.
St Mary's fosters a culture of continuous improvement where shared decision-making and teamwork are integral to the approach. The school is committed to guiding and supporting each student to reach their highest levels of development—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. This is achieved by building a safe, inclusive, and secure learning environment where opportunities are plentiful, and diversity thrives.
Currently, St Mary's supports 75 students from Foundation to Year 6, maintaining small class sizes to ensure personalized attention from dedicated teachers. This intimate learning environment allows for tailored instruction and support to meet the unique needs of every child.

MACS is looking for a Principal who will actively engage with the community and grow school enrolments under their leadership.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Evidence of strong senior faith leadership as an active member in good standing of a Catholic Church community, including Sunday attendance, informed by the church's teaching and local mission.Demonstrated ability in instructional leadership, including implementing evidence-based learning and teaching programs and school curriculum.Evidence of commitment to fostering a workplace prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of all, including MACS employees, students, and the broader educational community.Strong commitment to enrollment growth, financial stability, and risk mitigation while effectively managing resources within a monitored, evidence-based strategic plan.Demonstrated understanding of legislative and systemic compliance requirements applicable to Catholic schools.Attributes of justice and compassion in setting high standards for self and others in pastoral care and providing engaging education that offers multiple pathways for positive outcomes for young people.Strong coaching and leadership skills to enable team growth and development, championing innovation and improvement to support continuous learning.HOW TO APPLY Please refer to the position description for further details about the role and Key Selection Criteria.

The successful candidate must hold or acquire, and maintain a Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and/or Working with Children Check, and must be willing to obtain and maintain a national criminal history check.
