This opportunity is a part-time (0.6) temporary position with the potential to move into a permanent job for the right candidate.
You will be on-site for 3 days, not in your typical government office.

Your new role
The OHS Business Partner provides organisational Occupational Health and Safety leadership by guiding the establishment and implementation of the OHS management system, policies and processes, and through the provision of expert advice and support to Executives, managers, and staff, to achieve compliance with industry standards, legislative requirements, and government policy.
Duties required
Develop, implement and continuously improve the OHS program, delivering outcomes in line with the strategic intent to attain and maintain a high level of staff and public safety and the management of risk.
Take responsibility for employee Return-to-Work and Work Cover matters.
Identify and assess operational risks and hazards and develop and implement appropriate risk control strategies and protocols in consultation with employees, line managers, and external regulators.
Lead the response to critical workplace OHS incidents, undertake resulting investigations and actively liaise with WorkSafe Victoria.
Provide expert professional advice, information, and coaching to Executives, managers, employees, volunteers, and external parties to enable the achievement of the required safety culture, as evidenced by both measurable and anecdotal safety outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary qualifications and significant experience in OHS operational management in a medium-sized public sector organisation with multiple sites.
Demonstrated success in the development and application of contemporary OHS strategies, systems, and programs in a diverse and multi-site organisation.
Proven experience in managing the response to critical workplace OHS incidents, and in undertaking incident investigations.
Exceptional communication skills and ability to build OHS management capacity and capability in individuals across the organisation.
Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision, exercising judgement and escalating issues only by exception.
Ability to travel to additional locations as required (Southeast location).
