Youth Detention Operations Policy and Practice; Youth Detention Operations; Youth Detention Operations and Reform; Brisbane CityThe role of the Manager is to lead and manage the Youth Detention Policy and Practice team in the delivery of high-quality support, advice and projects that contribute to the effective operation of Queensland's youth detention centres.The role also provides expert advice and leadership on a range of strategic and operational matters to support the Youth Justice Strategy Action Plan.Job detailsPosition status: Fixed Term TemporaryPosition type: Flexible full-timeOccupational group: Policy & PlanningClassification: AO8Workplace Location: Brisbane CityJob ad reference: QLD/613573/25Closing date: 23-Jan-2025Job duration: until 31 March 2025 with possible extension.The Youth Detention Policy and Practice team is responsible for supporting best practice youth detention service delivery in Queensland.Key Activities of the team include:Developing and maintaining operational policy and procedures to guide the delivery of youth detention services.Providing practice support for staff, stakeholders and services working with young people in youth detention centres.Leading major practice improvement projects.Responding to oversight functions and actioning recommendations.Administering a range of statutory reporting functions.As Manager, Youth Detention Policy and Practice you will specifically:Provide and coordinate high level expert advice on a range of complex policy and practice issues relating to secure and custodial service delivery.Represent the department at inter-departmental committees and undertake effective consultation with key internal and external stakeholders on a range of strategic and operational matters.Manage and coordinate submissions, briefs, correspondence and other initiatives, contributing a strategic perspective to responses.Manage and coordinate major projects with statewide significance, including infrastructure planning, demand management and implementation of recommendations from inquiries and reviews.Coordinate and/or conduct research into youth detention matters and other practices which may affect the policy and operations of the department, including the analysis of findings and recommendations and identifying appropriate courses of action.Manage the Youth Detention Policy and Practice team, including financial and human resource responsibilities.Actively participate and contribute to the governance and strategic objectives of Youth Justice and the department.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.
