Queensland Health | Principal Project Officer | Brisbane

Exciting Role- Temporary, Full-time, Herston | Lead, manage and undertake state-wide safety and quality projects in mental health alcohol and other drugs care with a focus on initiatives that improve access and navigation though mental health alcohol and other drugs care - including phone-based access and navigation.

The role
The role is responsible for leading and managing statewide quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing the care of consumers in mental health, alcohol, and other drugs services, with a focus on access and navigation.
The successful candidate will provide leadership, support, and guidance to team members, and collaborate with key stakeholders both within and outside Queensland Health, including government departments, consumers, carers, and community organisations.
They will play a key role in developing partnerships, consulting on project deliverables, and ensuring projects align with Clinical Excellence Queensland's Project Management Framework.

The position will require the preparation of high-level briefing documents, submissions, and reports to provide strategic advice to senior management, the Department Executive, and the Minister's office.
The role also involves representing the Clinical Governance Unit and the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist on state-wide committees, ensuring health service responses are innovative and meet the needs of people with mental health and substance use disorders.
Additionally, the role will manage human, financial, and physical resources, ensuring high standards of productivity and adherence to Queensland Health's values, policies, and service quality standards.

The successful person
To succeed in this role, you will need a solid understanding of the mental health, alcohol, and other drugs service system, as well as the complex relationships between government, non-government, and private sectors.
You should also have proven experience in designing, managing, and implementing complex statewide initiatives aimed at improving consumer safety and service quality, with a focus on service delivery, coordination, access, and navigation.

Additionally, you will have strong analytical, policy interpretation, and data evaluation skills, with the ability to integrate multiple activities to achieve outcomes.
You will also possess excellent teamwork, negotiation, consultation, and stakeholder engagement skills, along with effective written communication abilities for producing reports, briefings, project documentation, discussion papers, and submissions.
