As a trainee and apprentice of the City, you will have many opportunities available to you:Networking opportunities, tours, and exclusive leadership talks promoting collaboration across all areas of the City.Tailored learning including work-based training and an extensive range of personal, professional, and career development training designed to set you up for success.Assistance and support on your path to accreditation.Support for your continued development journey with future opportunities at the City after the program.Work-life integration including a 9-day fortnight, flexible working arrangements, and generous leave entitlements.Above award salary to truly kick off your career.What's on offerIn the role of Trainee Building Inspector, you will be part of a team that ensures the safety and compliance of buildings, pools, and assets within the City of Gold Coast.
This is a unique role that will provide hands-on experience in building inspections, including site visits, plan assessments, and compliance checks.
You will contribute to a safer and more sustainable city by enforcing building codes and standards:Inspect swimming pools and their fences and existing buildings to ensure compliance with building requirements and regulations.Assess approved plans and development permits.Respond to complaints and conduct investigations to identify and resolve building requirement violations.Issue notices and orders to rectify building non-compliances and safety issues.Advise builders, developers, and property owners on building regulations and standards.What are we looking for from youThe City is committed to developing skilled trainees and apprentices into future City leaders who:Are team players who positively contribute and embrace change.Are highly motivated and proactive problem solvers who can manage their time effectively.Are self-starters eager to learn about building codes and standards with a high attention to detail.Have good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate, understand, and follow instructions in a high-risk environment.Have successfully completed Year 12.Applicants must have full working rights in Australia for the duration of the qualification and be able to work full-time.Here's how to applySubmit your resume and a cover letter.
