The Opportunity
Keen to pursue a career as a marine ranger with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, located in Hervey Bay?
Your future office might be the GREAT Sandy Marine Park which extends from Baffle Creek in the North to Double Island Point in the South and the waters surrounding World Heritage Listed K'gari.
We're looking for a hands-on Ranger in Charge to lead a team responsible for the implementation and promotion of the provisions for the revised Great Sandy Marine Park, natural resource, asset and project management.
One day you'll be on a vessel undertaking marine compliance under the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan, the next you might find yourself responding to a live marine mammal stranding in a remote area or attending planned burn or wildfire responses and the following day you might find yourself snorkelling to conduct reef health impact surveys.

What's in it for you?
Hervey Bay (regional) - You'll be working in a marine park that surrounds the World Heritage Listed Fraser Island (K'gari), visited by thousands of humpback whales on their annual migration as well as thousands of fishers and boaties on the excursions into the marine park.
You'll be part of the region that manages the Great Barrier Reef and all state marine parks in Queensland.
Focus areas of the role:
A strong understanding of the zoning provisions of the Great Sandy Marine Park and/or ability to interpret legislation to identify breaches and act on non-compliance.
Strong communication, administrative, reporting and IT skills.
A sound understanding of marine operations, conservation, natural resource management and workplace health and safety (both physical and psychological).
Courageous and ethical leadership and good communication skills.
Organisational, change management and teamwork skills.
To be considered you must:
- Hold an unrestricted manual driver's licence.
