The Agile Lead champions and promotes Agile values and principles, helping create and grow productive, self-organizing teams. They work at squad level looking in on the team, helping to create a culture of continuous improvement. They orientate the team around delivering value outcomes by working in partnership with Product Managers and Engineering Team Leads. They use a raft of data and metrics to detect trends, identify patterns and solve problems.
Key responsibilities
- Works with the Product Lead to ensure a value-driven backlog is prioritised and constantly evaluated/validated.
- Works at the squad level across sub domains acting as an agile expert.
- Facilitates the identification, mitigation and resolution of risks and impediments that could impact the team’s success.
- Drives value and optimises performance.
- Ensures all team agile ceremonies are taking place and facilitated to a high standard.
- Supports the team in completing robust, realistic and achievable plans.
- Encourages team to drive collectively towards sprint goals and targets.
- Focuses on introducing and managing metrics that monitor the team’s performance, health and highlight areas of improvement.
- Facilitates effective retrospectives to gain open and honest feedback that drives impactful continuous improvement.
- Ensures quality team data is available, so that the team’s progress versus agreed plans can be tracked and addressed appropriately.
- Utilises effective coaching and mentoring to empower and trust teams to take ownership and be self-organising.
- Embraces change and challenges, adapting as guided by agile values and principles.
- Driven by an Agile mindset, fosters effective collaboration and clear communication.
**Qualifications**
Specialist skills and experience
- Experienced in Agile Methodologies, a set of adaptive and collaborative approaches to project management and software development that prioritize flexibility, customer involvement, and iterative progress.
- Demonstrable experience of Sprint Events/Ceremonies ways of working
- Skilled in Stakeholder Management, organises, monitors and improves relationships with stakeholders.
- Well versed in Backlogs & Iterative Development, prioritize features and user stories in the product backlog based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility.
- Experienced in facilitation, the ability to provide opportunities and resources to a group of people that enable them to make progress and succeed.
- Problem Solving, the ability to identify challenges, analyse situations, and develop effective solutions to overcome difficulties or achieve desired outcomes.
- Conflict Resolution, resolves conflicts across and identifies, remediates potential areas of risk. Investigating, documenting, and resolving conflicts and issues.
- Continuous Improvement, the ability to systematically identify, analyse, and implement incremental enhancements and optimisations in processes, practices, and products, fostering a culture of ongoing learning and refinement within an organization.
- Well-versed in Risk Management/Impediments, Identifies, evaluates and manages interference, obstacles and potential risks that have a negative impact on the sprints' velocity or overall performance.
- Interpersonal, the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and relate with others, promoting positive interactions and relationships.
- Coaching, delivers one-to-one coaching, works with colleagues to improve capability and to support individuals or groups in achieving goals, improving performance, and developing skills through effective communication, active listening, empathy, and goal setting.
- Good knowledge of Objectives and Key Results (OKR) Strategy, develops a goal management framework that outlines a desired outcome supported by key results or indicators.
- Experienced in Agile Development, an iterative and flexible approach to software development that emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and customer feedback throughout the development process.
- Good experience of working in a Lean Portfolio Management (LPM),
