Global Category Manager Chemicals

**Your duties & responsibilities**: This role is business and success critical and therefore of great importance to the Constantia Flexibles Group. As a member of the global procurement leadership team, you will also contribute to the ongoing development of the function and related capabilities. You will report directly to the Executive Vice President Procurement, who is a member of the group's executive committee. The Global Category Lead and Vice President for Chemicals owns the category leadership from A-Z (commercial, supplier, technology strategy). He/She defines the category strategy and supports its implementation. He/She runs relevant analyses to drive efficiencies, execute sourcing activities incl. key negotiations and manages supplier relationships. "act as a business function, challenge status quo, take a global view, finish strong". **Tasks**: - Be responsible for category strategy definition and implementation - Represent the category in the procurement leadership team - Lead the category team - Manage the global category team across regions with also strong focus on talent management - Manage cross-functional interfaces with related departments - Break-down global targets and define category related targets - Cross-check global category with sub-category strategies periodically - Lead global negotiations and manage key supplier relationships in close alignment with Category Managers - Optimize category efficiencies through providing guidelines, best-practice processes & standardized templates to Category Managers - Set-up regular category reporting by tracking degree of target achievement and listing major activities **Job Dimensions & Key Interfaces**: - Be fully accountable for category target achievement globally. Goal setting done by EVP Procurement. - Working with other Global Category Managers, exchange best-practice processes across the Procurement Lead Team. - Collaborate with key business partners (e.g. Sites, Operations, Product Mgmt., Sales) to align category strategy and identify joint projects - Work closely with the R&D department to facilitate cooperation with suppliers in order to develop new products - Develop and manage global supply network and partnerships **Requirements**: - Higher education (Bachelor/Master) with an academic background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering strongly preferred - English fluency is necessary and German is desirable - Significant track record within procurement, with a strong technical expertise across the Chemical sector - Extensive network and track record of building relationships with suppliers, with a preference for experience across the EMEA region - Project Management: Develops project plans and communicates changes and progress. Completes projects on time and within budget - Proven track record having successfully developed (a similar) category previously, having implemented the process necessary to drive and manage that category, and having infused his/her teams and cross - functional teams with a clear and focused drive for measurable performance **Personal Attributes**: - Problem solving - identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner - Project Management - Develops project plans and communicates changes and progress.
