Overview:
IDC is looking for a
**Research Manager** to help develop, articulate and drive the research of IDC's core European Security Services program, within the European Security Strategies practice, IDC Europe.

This role presents an opportunity to expand our recognized thought leadership on security services, including Managed Security Services (MSS), Professional Security Services (PSS), and security consulting and advisory. IDC aims to innovate and create new thinking around, for example, the impact of innovative MSS/PSS, digital transformation advisory, and security solutions delivered under new and emerging Platform-as-a-Service concepts.

**Responsibilities**:

- Leading and growing IDC’s market-leading research into European security services
- Defining the overall research coverage of MSS, PSS, security consulting and advisory, and managed detection and response, based on your topic knowledge and feedback from customers, vendors, systems integrators, service providers, and CISO/security practitioner and decision-maker communities
- Publishing thought leadership research papers on various areas of security services, and the technology implications for vendors and end user organizations
- Providing insightful and relevant comments on industry relevant events, including the impact of security services on other technology markets (IoT, cloud, AI, DevOps, etc)
- Being a ‘face’ of IDC’s coverage of security services in Europe, presenting on security topics at IDC and external events and webinars
- Leading or supporting the delivery of market intelligence briefings
- Working with IDC’s worldwide security team to help define taxonomies, research focus areas and market forecasts
- Being a trusted advisor to the subscribers to the European Security Services research content
- Supporting business development initiatives. This is not a business development role, but supporting the sales and consulting teams by injecting topic domain knowledge is an essential part of the role

Qualifications:

- Excellent writing, presentation and client interaction skills
- High proficiency in English, additional languages are considered an asset
- +5 years of experience, ideally in a recognised security, professional IT services, or privacy analyst or policy-maker role focused either in strategy, operations, marketing, policy formulation or data governance
- Understanding of the current and future security, risk assessment, and cyber resilience challenges faced by organizations. Knowledge of security strategies that help businesses reduce their vulnerabilities and address known security risk and maintain legal and regulatory compliance around data.
- Understanding of the technology dynamics associated with these challenges and strategies. This knowledge will have been gained through the ongoing analysis of industry developments and supplemented by a carefully cultivated network of contacts.
- Evidence of an interest and/or knowledge in European MSS/PSS, consulting and advisory issues is essential, with a working knowledge of current approaches to security services.
