This is a full‑time, permanent role based at our Kew office in Melbourne. About the role The Area Manager at What Ability is responsible for leading and managing a local team of Participants and Support Workers to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred support. The role includes day‑to‑day team oversight, rostering, documentation compliance, and ongoing participant and family engagement. The Area Manager plays a critical role in supporting these values and ensuring high‑quality, safe, and person‑centred service delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and support a team of Participants and Support Workers. Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that aligns with What Ability's values. Provide coaching, supervision, and performance support to Support Workers. Coordinate and manage daily rosters and bookings for Participants and Support Workers. Ensure bookings are safe, meet participant needs, and that all relevant documentation is up to date and valid. Respond to changes or incidents in a timely and effective manner. Ensure support plans are up to date and that staff are aware of participant‑specific needs and protocols. Coordinate staff training and education relevant to participant needs and compliance standards. Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new Support Workers. Support the professional development of team members through coaching, feedback, and structured learning opportunities. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of all participant interactions and family communications. Ensure all participant schedules and associated records are current and properly maintained. Ensure Support Workers understand and follow all relevant documentation and procedures. Monitor communication quality between Support Workers, participants, and families. Undertake additional duties and projects as directed by the State, or Senior Regional Manager. Who You Are Reliable, honest, and authentic in everything you do. Curious and proactive – you look for ways to improve processes and outcomes. Ideally, some understanding of the disability sector, but passion and attitude matter more than experience. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
