Senior Financial Accountant – South Brisbane Icon Group is a leading cancer care provider looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our South Brisbane office on a 12‑16 month contract. The role will support our extensive pharmacy operations across multiple sites. Deliver Financial Accounting and Reporting for Icon’s Extensive Pharmacy Operations. Provide Business Support through Oversight and Maintenance of Accounting Systems and Compliance Obligations. 12‑16 month full‑time contract role, based at our global head office in South Brisbane (Mt Waverley, Melbourne location is also available as an alternative). About the role We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant on a permanent full‑time basis to assist with the provision of financial accounting and reporting to meet management and statutory requirements, including the delivery of timely and accurate information, maintenance of reporting systems, financial policies and processes, reconciliations, internal controls compliance obligations. The role has become available to cover a period of leave, for a duration of 12 to 16 months full‑time. Key Responsibilities Responsible for all aspects of the accounting function and internal controls/procedures. Ensure integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial transactions and statements. Month‑end processing including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, general journals and accrual entries. Assist with the formulation of accounting/business policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to and applied consistently. Custodianship of the divisional general ledger and financial governance and control frameworks. Assist with preparation of statutory accounts and audit processes. Assist with the management and maintenance of reporting systems. Prepare, review, and submit GST / PAYG returns in collaboration with the group tax accounting team. Communicate key financial information to management. Recommend improvements of processes with a focus on optimal efficiency and accuracy. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required. About You We are seeking a passionate senior accountant who is experienced in a large, complex, multi‑site/entity organisation, is willing to work in a team and has the ability to prioritise their workload in a fast‑paced environment. High attention to detail along with effective communication and problem‑solving skills are required to succeed in these roles. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in business / commerce. CPA/CA qualified. Commercial experience in a large entity – 5+ years post‑qualified. Experience in a Senior Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant role previously. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Excellent understanding of financial accounting and financial reporting systems with a capacity to interpret the financial reporting and processing needs of the organisation and communicate with IT. Very strong spreadsheet and ERP system experience and skill. Excellent understanding of monthly management reporting processes and prior experience with coordinating and completing monthly management reporting cycles. Possess change management, negotiating and influencing skills. Understanding of risk management and internal controls.
