Net Zero Operations Officer – Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Location: Sydney, NSW. We support our people and property portfolio across the department’s national property portfolio, enabling effective management of people‑related risk and building future‑ready leaders, people and culture. The Net Zero Operations Officer will support emissions reduction reporting across the property portfolio and help the department reach its Net Zero by 2030 targets as outlined in the Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP). Responsibilities Contribute to improving the department’s portfolio utility and emissions reporting. Engage with internal and external stakeholders. Respond to requests for utility and emissions data reviews with limited guidance. Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability improvements to the department’s property portfolio. Develop and implement frameworks, policies, guidelines and briefs. Review utility contracts and project plans for annual reporting and briefing. Support energy procurement risk assessments, evaluation and coordination. Perform quality assurance of risks and treatments within the area of responsibility. Conduct independent research, analysis and prepare briefings on emissions reduction initiatives. Help develop team objectives for short‑term tasks and strategic long‑term initiatives. Support project and facilities administration, record keeping, compliance and reporting for sustainability outputs. Manage reporting dashboards in platforms such as PowerBi. Maintain stakeholder relationships to achieve work‑area and agency goals. Eligibility & Qualifications Manage workload across competing priorities to deliver outcomes. Make decisions using good judgement, expertise and knowledge. Work under limited direction with autonomy and accountability in interpreting policy and procedure. Exercise initiative and judgment in delivering sustainability outcomes. Provide accurate, specialised advice and anticipate problems. Collaborate positively, focusing on resolving technical issues and coordinating sustainability deliverables. Prioritise tasks, coordinate work and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines. Demonstrate analytical, interpretive, and problem‑solving skills. Support staff and seek guidance when needed. Our ideal candidate will have strong administration, communication, and data management skills.
