Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Position Overview Reporting to the Director, Engineering, you’ll take the lead in developing high‑quality electrical designs, calculations, analyses, reports, and specifications for major infrastructure assets. You’ll work across a broad spectrum of energy projects, from concept to execution, contributing to solutions that shape Australia’s future energy infrastructure. This is a role for someone who thrives on technical complexity, fast‑paced delivery, and purpose‑led work. What You’ll Do Develop and deliver comprehensive electrical design packages, including detailed drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports that meet client, regulatory, and safety standards. Undertake preliminary protection studies to inform grid modelling activities and detailed design. Perform advanced electrical system analysis, including load flow, fault studies, voltage drop assessments, and bus/conductor sizing. Interpret project scope and client requirements to ensure all low‑voltage (LV) and high‑voltage (HV) system designs align with technical standards, project objectives, and performance expectations. Design and document a broad range of electrical systems and components, including: Utility‑scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) LV and HV distribution networks HV Protection Cable containment and routing infrastructure Earthing and bonding systems Metering and monitoring solutions Installation and commissioning specifications Major equipment and component procurement specifications Control and automation system interfaces (in collaboration with controls and SCADA teams) Switchroom and switchyard general arrangements Equipment integration Collaborate with engineers, project managers, vendors, and clients throughout the full design lifecycle, from concept through to construction support, ensuring solutions are technically sound, commercially viable, and constructible. Serve as the electrical design subject matter expert within multidisciplinary teams, offering guidance and oversight to ensure design quality, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration across project elements. About You You’re a qualified Electrical Engineer with a passion for quality design and a track record of delivering complex engineering projects in the energy or renewables sector. You thrive in collaborative environments, bring strong technical judgement, and are motivated by real‑world impact. A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with CPEng recognition (or working towards) through Engineers Australia Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably across utility‑scale renewables or large infrastructure projects Sound knowledge of relevant Australian standards (e.g. AS 3000 and AS 2067) and regulatory frameworks Proficiency in AutoCAD and industry‑standard design and analysis software Strong technical capabilities in electrical systems design, implementation, and optimisation Demonstrated experience in preparing high‑quality technical reports and documentation A proactive, detail‑oriented mindset with a commitment to safety, compliance, and engineering excellence Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders Ability to work both independently as well as within teams #J-18808-Ljbffr
