What you'll be doing This imperative Community role will see youprovide comprehensive Clinical Mental Health services to people with a mental illness or mental disorder that is least intrusive, collaborative, recovery oriented, nominated carer and family responsive and inclusive, rehabilitative, encourages self-advocacy, facilitates empowerment and capacity for optimal independent function and utilises evidence-based practice interventions. Your role will be to work with the Mental Health Service to enhance the cultural sensitivity and accessibility of the service for Aboriginal people and to improve the capacity of service providers to provide culturally sensitive and appropriate responses to the Aboriginal population. Within this position you will prioritise workload in order to maintain accountability and optimise positive outcomes for consumers and their families and show the ability to maximise use of limited service resources and negotiate access to resources in the community and other services by managing competing demands in a busy workload within a complex health care environment. At all times you will be aware of the cultural issues related to mental health service provision for Aboriginal people with the aim of providing care within a best practice model. All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form). Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa. Selection criteria to be addressed : Tertiary qualifications in either Social Worker (where degree provides eligibility for membership for Australian Association of Social Workers) -Counselling (including eligibility for membership of relevant professional body) - Occupational Therapist and registered with AHPRA - Psychology and registered with AHPRA or Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA registration including completion of a new graduate RN program or 12 months experience working as a Registered Nurse. Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with mental illness. Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, good interpersonal skills and computer competence and literacy. Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative partnerships with a range of service providers to tailor care plans and enhance the cultural sensitivity of service provision Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal mental health and wellbeing principles and practice improvement Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007 Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel #J-18808-Ljbffr
