We offer: Professional and personal development opportunities Generous leave entitlements and flexible work arrangements A dynamic workplace close to home, surrounded by heritage charm, green spaces, and modern amenities The Opportunity The Young Communities services unit is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to optimise the wellbeing and resilience of young people aged 12‑25 years and their families through the identification, design, establishment, and delivery of inclusive, adaptable, and accessible programs. You will build and maximise relationships with organisations to improve outcomes for young people and advocate for their needs. As an Engagement and Activation Officer, you will develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of youth events, leadership and awards programmes, school engagements, consultations, and contribute to the Young Communities strategic plan and service delivery. Reporting to the Team Leader Engagement and Activation, you will play a crucial role in networking and building rapport with local businesses, schools, organisations, and community groups. Key Responsibilities Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a range of youth engagement programmes and event initiatives that address engagement and support of young people across the municipality. Undertake administrative tasks, including developing programme/event proposals and evaluations, event management plans, programme budgets, and maintaining accurate records and statistical information. Support strategic partnerships by representing the needs of local young people on networks and committees, engaging with community groups, service providers, and schools to promote awareness of Youth Development and Support Services available for young people and their families. Assist the Team Leader/Coordinator with the preparation of the Young Communities budget, reports for Council and funding bodies. Requirements Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development, Welfare or a related discipline with some experience. Demonstrated experience in the development, facilitation and evaluation of a wide range of programmes and engagement activities for young people. Proven ability to engage young people and motivate and encourage active participation. Experience implementing projects and achieving outcomes within budget and timeframe. Hold a current Victorian driver’s licence. Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
