The Opportunity We currently have an opening for the Health and Wellbeing Project Officer position (reporting to the Team Leader, Community Health Promotion) within our Healthy Inclusive Communities team. You will be a proactive and self-motivated person with an understanding of health promotion and social equity principles with the ability to apply your prevention-focused knowledge of supporting local communities across relevant health and wellbeing priorities, as outlined in the Council and Wellbeing plan, such as: Promote gender equity and prevent gender-based violence Healthier eating and food security Mental health and wellbeing Active living and physical activity Community Safety. In this role, you will build and maintain effective relationships across organisational and community stakeholders to support the delivery of evidence-based health and wellbeing initiatives. To be successful in this role you will be able to embed collaboration and inclusion applications, such as community leadership, social justice, equity, community engagement, co-design and intersectionality principles, across the relevant health and wellbeing community initiatives. This role requires after hours work during the delivery of the Sons and Daughters of The West programs. Key Responsibilities Deliver the multiple, yearly Sons and Daughters of The West community 10-week programs. Deliver relevant prevention-focused health and wellbeing activities, events and campaigns, in collaboration with community stakeholders. Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement evidence-based initiatives aimed at improving health and wellbeing in the City of Melton. Build and maintain partnerships with internal stakeholders to enable collective impact for health and wellbeing outcomes for the City of Melton community. About you To be successful in this role you will have the following: Tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health, community development, health or social sciences or a related field with little or no relevant work experience or a lesser qualification with relevant work skills. Excellent time management and communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communication to suit varying audiences. Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of health promotion, social determinants of health and chronic disease prevention. Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings and occasional weekends. Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
