About the role The Radiographer (Medical Imaging Practitioner) is responsible for: Performing basic imaging examinations to produce images of the highest diagnostic value while using ionising radiations, both in general and fluoroscopic radiography. Ensuring compliance with the ‘as low as reasonably achievable’ (ALARA) principle while using ionising and non-ionising radiation to provide images. Liaising with staff and the general public regarding general radiography. Being registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia. Fourth‑year students in 2024 who are eligible to apply pending full registration are also welcome. Note: Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position. About Launceston General Hospital (LGH) The LGH radiology department has an annual turnover of over 70,000 examinations and is staffed 24/7 with shifts and on call. The department offers a great team environment and ongoing professional development. Launceston has a regional population of over 100,000 and a strong community spirit, with the spectacular Launceston Gorge as a backdrop. The hospital is a 300‑bed regional teaching facility with a focus on education and specialist care, serving a catchment area of approximately 250,000 people. Appointment Details Permanent full‑time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions available, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant. For a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part‑time, and casual vacancies. Salary and Superannuation Annual salary range: $73,834 to $111,364, with a 12% superannuation contribution on top. Salary range aligns with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wage Agreement 2022. Allowances You’ll have access to a salary package and benefits including: living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, and other benefits if eligible. Professional Development Allowance of up to $1,000 per annum. A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro‑rata, approved until 31 May 2026, reviewed prior to expiry. Benefits Travel and relocation assistance support up to $15,000 for eligible appointees. Professional development and accelerated pathways. Excellent leave benefits: 20 days annual leave (pro‑rata), 20 days personal leave (pro‑rata), and study assistance leave if eligible. Fitness Passport – you and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.
