Lead the Future of Banking Technology Regional Australia Bank is seeking an experienced Solution Architect Lead to join our Technology and Transformation team. This senior position is responsible for shaping the architectural vision and ensuring seamless integration of solutions that support both current and future business needs. You will set standards, guide the design of solutions, and ensure our technology strategy aligns with the bank’s long-term goals. Key Responsibilities Define and Govern Application Architecture Strategy & Standards: Develop and maintain architecture frameworks, principles, and best practices that support business objectives. Design cloud-native architectures on Azure , including App Services, Functions, and containerized workloads. Lead Software Development Lifecycle Practices: Oversee the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-level solutions, ensuring alignment with Agile methodologies and Azure DevOps practices. Provide People Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of architects and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Design and Oversee Enterprise-Level Solutions: Architect scalable, secure, performant and resilient solutions using Azure cloud technologies, including hybrid configurations and Resource Manager templates. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable architecture blueprints. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate existing solutions for opportunities to refactor, enhance, and align with evolving business and technology needs. About You You are an experienced IT leader who thrives on solving complex challenges and inspiring teams. You combine technical depth with strategic thinking and have a customer-focused mindset that ensures technology delivers real business value. Key Technical Capabilities 1. API Integration & Microservices Designing and building secure REST APIs (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT), including the lifecycle management of APIs. Hands on experience in designing and developing API integration services using .NET, Java, Typescript. Designing and Implementing API gateways using Azure API Management. Experience with microservices (Docker, App Container, Kubernetes, AKS) and event-driven patterns (Event Grid, Kafka). Hands‑on delivery with Azure App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Key Vault. CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (YAML) and Git standards. Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep. Strong observability skills with App Insights and Log Analytics. Building ETL/ELT pipelines with Azure Data Factory. Data governance, lineage, and security using Purview aligned with APRA CPS 234. 4. Security, Compliance & Risk (Banking Focus) Familiarity with APRA standards, CDR requirements, and secure data handling. Implementing encryption, secret management, and identity controls (Entra ID). Working within compliance-driven delivery frameworks common in Australian banks. Producing HLD/LLD, integration patterns, sequence diagrams, and cloud architecture. Hands‑on prototyping and technical troubleshooting across API, cloud, and data layers. Collaboration with cross-functional teams (security, operations, business). Bonus Capability Core Banking Experience: Exposure to Ultracs core banking system with Universe (U2) Database. Understanding of core transaction processing, account management, batch operations, and integration patterns with legacy banking systems. Interested?
