We advocate for shared decision-making, collaborative relationships, compassionate and person-centred leadership, and supporting innovative practices.As a Clinical Nurse Consultant at SGH you will play a pivotal role in the SGH Aged Care Service utilising your extensive experience and qualifications to: lead and provide expert clinical consultancy practice. collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of SGH Aged Care models of care. provide leadership and direction for quality improvement and clinical service standards. lead skill development in coaching, clinical supervision and leadership. be responsible for engaging with staff, carers, patients and consumers to facilitate, support, and evaluate practice to ensure delivery of compassionate, evidence based, person centred care. foster excellence in clinical, educational and professional leadership. SGH Aged Care Precinct The Aged Care Precinct at St George Hospital encompasses a dedicated suite of inpatient services designed to meet the complex needs of older people. This includes Acute Aged Care wards and a Behaviour Support Unit. The Acute Aged Care Wards provide carefor older people who are acutely unwell and require hospital level care. The Behaviour Support Unit is a specialist care unit to support the needs of patients with severe or complex behaviours associated with dementia and/ or delirium at St George Hospital. The purpose of the Behaviour Support Unit is to stabilise behaviour and safely facilitate the transition of care to an appropriate discharge destination. The Aged Care Precinctoperates as a cohesive clinical environment that prioritises person-centred care, safety, and dignity, supported by multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based practice. The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3 plays a key leadership role within this precinct, offering expert clinical guidance, driving quality improvement, and supporting staff development across all units. This role is central to advancing aged care excellence, enhancing patient outcomes, and strengthening the interface between acute care and community-based aged care services. Selection Criteria Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license. Minimum of 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital. Demonstrated ability to apply advanced clinical reasoning and ability to apply professional judgement when performing novel, complex or critical tasks in the provision of caring and managing patients with behaviours of concern and an ability to work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary framework. Demonstrated high level understanding of leadership and its impact on organisational culture and experience with self-directed work, projects management, change management and achieving high quality deliverables. Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and experience and expertise in the management of organisational and cultural change. Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills (including the use of coaching) across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and foster relationships with key stakeholders in developing strategies, plans, interventions, or programs to achieve outcomes. Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to practice in accordance with legislation, policies and within the scope of practice of the relevant professional group.
