City of Melbourne, Österreich Department of Education Victoria Vollzeit

Department of Education Victoria – Werribee VIC 7d ago , from Department of Education & Training Victoria Riverwalk Primary School is a newly established government primary school located on Timbarra Drive, Werribee. Our school has facilities to cater for a long-term enrolment of 525 students and has a co-located two room kindergarten. Riverwalk Primary School is located within an extensive growth corridor and has been master-planned to allow for a peak enrolment of up to 1,100 students. There are a number of new housing estates developing within the Riverwalk area, which is contributing to our growing student numbers. Riverwalk Primary School has two large learning neighbourhoods which include general and specialist teaching spaces, an administration building, a performing arts and physical education building. In addition to this, the school has a range of outside facilities, including two playgrounds and learning street. The learning street encompasses flexible learning options with both indoor and outdoor areas of the school. The school also integrates the latest technology as a tool to support learning, including iPads, laptops and a range of STEM resources. Interactive whiteboards and LCD screens are available throughout the learning spaces. Riverwalk Primary School is a supported inclusion school designed to cater for a higher proportion of students with disability. The school is designed to ensure that all students can access a high-quality education closer to home. Supported Inclusion Schools are a new addition to the Victorian education system, and it is a model which balances a level of targeted support that is greater than a standard mainstream school, with a level of inclusivity that is greater than a stand‑alone specialist school. The building design, learning structures and facilities allows the school to cater for students with additional learning needs as well as mainstream students. Our vision is to be an inclusive school community where everyone is empowered to achieve excellence. This vision is captured in the motto - Achieving Excellence. Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive and supported learning environment that inspires and challenges all members of the community to embrace learning and achieve academic, social, emotional and physical excellence. Riverwalk Primary School is committed to: Building a culture of high expectations and acknowledging that every student can learn and has the right to learn Empowering all learners to achieve excellence and celebrating their success Establishing a safe, inclusive and supported learning environment that is conducive to learning Developing a professional learning community that is focused on the continuous improvement of teaching and learning and takes a collective responsibility for improving student learning outcomes Delivering a high quality, student focused, rigorous and relevant curriculum that meets the learning needs of all students Empowering learners to take ownership and be active participants in their own learning Building resilience and supporting students to be happy, healthy and confident learners Engaging with parents, carers and the wider community as genuine partners in learning, striving to achieve the best possible outcomes for students Riverwalk Primary Schools values are inclusion, collaboration, resilience and excellence. Selection Criteria SC1. Ability to carry out a physical role with demonstrated ability to proactively undertake and coordinate a range of school building and grounds maintenance duties. SC2. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision. SC3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people within a school environment, including leadership, contractors, and staff. SC4. Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines and compliance requirements. SC5. Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth. SC6. Demonstrated ability to support and coordinate projects relating to buildings, grounds, and overall school improvement. Role The Facilities and Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the school’s buildings, grounds, and equipment are well maintained, well presented, physically secure, compliant with all appropriate regulations, and provide a safe and welcoming environment for the school community. The role involves both hands‑on maintenance and coordination of facilities-related work, including liaising with contractors, responding to maintenance requests, and supporting compliance and safety processes. Attendance may be required during the school vacation period; a leave purchase allowance will be paid for this attendance. Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs. Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations. This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee’s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities General Ensure that all buildings and grounds are well maintained and presented, with all work undertaken in compliance with OHS and Department standards. Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by following OHS regulations and actively participating as a member of the OHS Team. Respond to repairs, maintenance, and OHS requests from staff, students, and stakeholders in consultation with the Principal and Business Manager. Support the management of AIMS by maintaining and updating maintenance records, contracts, and service schedules. Raise purchase orders and requisitions through Compass financial systems and submit invoices as required. Liaise with and coordinate contractors onsite, ensuring compliance before attendance and verifying completion of works. Arrange regular servicing and inspection of all essential equipment and systems. Provide regular updates to the Principal and Business Manager regarding building, grounds, and facilities operations. Participate in relevant training and professional learning as required. Buildings, Grounds and Facilities Perform hands‑on maintenance tasks as required, including graffiti removal, emergency maintenance, cleaning, deliveries, and general repairs. Respond to daily maintenance requests and prioritise work based on urgency. Support and assist with minor works and refurbishment projects, both school-driven and Department-driven. Maintain school grounds, including mowing, garden care, and weed control, in accordance with the school’s landscape plan. Work alongside contractors to ensure timely and high-quality completion of works. Identify and report maintenance, furniture, or equipment needs to the Business Manager or Principal. Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of school facilities and grounds. Undertake any other duties as negotiated with the Principal. Compliance and Annual Inspections Support OHS reporting, auditing, and project requirements to ensure adherence to legislation. Assist with general and cyclical maintenance of facilities and equipment. Maintain familiarity with the mechanical and electrical systems of the school and ensure operational manuals are up to date. Comply with WorkSafe and Departmental standards regarding asbestos, chemical safety, risk management, and facilities hazards. Undertake routine inspections as required by the Department’s OHS calendar. Who May Apply Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position. Diversity and Inclusion The department is committed to diversity and inclusion and developing a workforce that is representative of the community we service. We value diversity and inclusion in all forms – culture, gender, religion, ethnicity, LGBTIQA+, disability and neurodiversity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for roles within the Department. The Department recognises that the provision of safe, respectful and inclusive workplaces is essential to high performance and promotes flexible work and diversity across all schools and Department workplaces. It is our policy to provide reasonable adjustments for staff with disability (see Workplace adjustment guidelines). Additional support and advice on the recruitment process is available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates from the Koorie Outcomes Division (KOD) via*******@education.vic.gov.au. Applicants seeking part‑time employment are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and, if they are the successful candidate, request a reduced time fraction. Such requests will be negotiated on a case‑by‑case basis and will be subject to the operational requirements of the school. Child Safe Standards Victorian government schools are child‑safe environments. Our schools actively promote the safety and wellbeing of all students, and all school staff are committed to protecting students from abuse or harm in the school environment, in accordance with their legal obligations including child‑safe standards. All schools have a Child Safety Code of Conduct consistent with the department's exemplar available at: DE Values The department's employees commit to upholding the department's Values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Impartiality, Accountability, Respect, Leadership and Human Rights. The department's Values complement each school's own values and underpin the behaviours the community expects of Victorian public sector employees, including those who work in Victorian Government Schools. Information on the department values is available at: Conditions of Employment All staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements. Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre‑employment conditions check. A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programmes provided.
