St George Hospital is undertaking a 12 month trial of an innovative diagnostic radiology reporting model. The bulk of image reporting will be in a separate ‘reporting engine’. Distinct shifts – Training, Engagement and Governance (TEG) shifts – accommodate other Radiologist functions such as training, supervision, MDT, research and quality improvement. Remuneration: fee‑for‑service in the reporting engine; sessional hourly in TEG shifts. Participation in both aspects required. Successful applicants benefit from increased remuneration, dedicated TEG time and better work/life balance. The ‘reporting engine’ will involve reporting on ED and other examinations 0800–2400 hrs each day (2 shifts) with remuneration commensurate with number and complexity of examinations. Reporting between midnight and 8am when feasible and if desired. Off‑site shifts may occur. Radiologists will also be required to participate on‑site in TEG functions: training, supervision, MDTs, consultation and quality improvement initiatives. On‑call rosters expected. Experience in multiple radiology subspecialties highly desirable. The successful applicant would be experienced in all aspects of their radiology subspecialty including advanced diagnostic procedures, basic interventional procedures and participation in clinic‑radiology meetings. Department of Medical Imaging includes two CT scanners, DR/CR general X‑ray rooms, one 3T MRI scanner (to be increased to two scanners in 2023), Angiography Suite, five Ultrasounds and a fluoroscopy room. The department provides reporting for a dedicated CR and CT room in the Emergency Department. SESLHD covers nine Local Government Areas from Sydney's Central Business District to the Royal National Park and has a culturally and linguistically diverse population of over 930,000 people. SESLHD operates 28 Child and Family Health Centres, 12 Community Health Centres and nine Oral Health Clinics; providing prevention, early intervention, community‐based treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation services. Responsibilities Reporting on emergency department and other examinations using the ‘reporting engine’ model. Participation in Training, Engagement and Governance (TEG) shifts: training, supervision, MDTs, research and quality improvement initiatives. Participation in departmental on‑call rosters. Advanced diagnostic procedures, basic interventional procedures and participation in clinic‑radiology meetings. Collaboration with multidisciplinary health teams. Selection Criteria Registration or eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA). Provide AHPRA registration number on application. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and/or equivalent specialist recognition. Evidence of continuing medical education and self‑monitoring/audit practices consistent with scope of practice. Proven capacity and/or experience in providing high quality service in the specialty, demonstrated through successful clinical practice and quality improvement activities. Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. Demonstrate senior medical practitioner skills and professional behaviour. Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with medical and allied health colleagues and effective communication with patients and staff. Demonstrated experience and commitment to research relevant to the role and department needs. This is a Category A position.
