Australia for UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises.
Established in 2000, A4U has raised $400m from individual donors, philanthropists and corporates, leading to direct impact on the ground delivering emergency support such as shelter, protection, clean water, food and medicines.
Impact you will make in this role
As the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that increase financial support and impact, leading a team to meet strategic goals across fundraising channels that include Major and Middle donors, Ultra-High Net Worth donors, Private Ancillary Funds, Trusts and a Foundations, Bequests, Corporate Partners, Events and Faith-based giving income.
These programs are responsible for cultivating relationships with donors and partners to establish closer relationships with UNHCR's work to deepen impact and grow income.
We are searching for a senior fundraising professional with a collaborative approach, who will work alongside the Executive to shape the strategic trajectory of the portfolio and provide organisational guidance.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a dynamic, driven team, as well as various departments within the organisation, ensuring an evidence-based approach that resonates with their target demographic and UNHCR counterparts.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement fundraising strategies to secure and increase revenue across the Philanthropy and Partnerships portfolio that includes Major and Middle donors, Ultra-High Net Worth donors, Private Ancillary Funds, Trusts and a Foundations, Bequests, Corporate Partners, Events and Faith-based giving incomeEvaluating and analysing fundraising activities to ensure a sustainable approach to revenue and program growthDeveloping appropriate engagement and recognition strategies for all donors in the portfolioWorking strategically with stakeholders to identify new donor prospects, and with key internal stakeholders in the development of relationships with donors to maximise the benefits to the organisation and move donors up the supporter pyramidEnsuring positive relationships are maintained with high value supporters, bequestors and partners and that all supporters in the portfolio are communicated with appropriatelyManaging team initiatives to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts from donors as part of Zakat, Sadaqah and other faith-based donationsEnsuring a data-driven approach is in place across the team for decision making, with emphasis on segmentation models, donor research and data integrityDeveloping annual income and expenditure budgets and forecastsAttending Australia for UNHCR events and other functions as appropriate to represent the organisation, meet and greet stakeholders and nurture current and potential supportersImplementing regular reporting on portfolio performance including submissions and reporting for UNHCR PSP, A4U Board and the Executive teamLeading and developing staff to deliver consistent, high quality and successful outcomesPlaying an active and senior role as part of the Leadership Team, contributing to the leadership and direction of the Philanthropy & Partnerships function and organisationSkills and ExperienceProven success in a leadership role at a senior level developing and implementing strategic fundraising initiatives with a focus on high-net-worth fundraisingDemonstrated experience embedding strategic thinking and clearly articulating strategic direction and plans that drive financial outcomesExperience leading, establishing, cultivating and engaging with networks of ultra-high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and other potential major and corporate donorsExceptional data analysis skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions that improve outcomesExcellent reporting skills with a strong ability to capture essential data that impacts relationship management and associated campaignsSuccess leading, empowering and mentoring a team to achieve fundraising outcomesAdvanced understanding of the Australian and global philanthropic sectorEffective budget management skills and ability to deliver long-term sustainabilityAn influential and collaborative approach to building and maintaining relationships with all internal and external stakeholders at all levelsA passion to advocate and fundraise for refugee protection, emergency aid, and long-term support and solutionsApplications
