The Museum’s retail team requires a highly organised and efficient person who will work towards the delivery of a highly efficient and proactive stock management system, contributing to sales performance and retail experience. The Senior Inventory Officer is responsible for managing the retail stock inventory from arrival at the Museum to the shop floor and online or external sales (wholesale, internal sales). This involves managing relevant databases, reporting on stock performance, and coordinating stocktakes. Other responsibilities include a proactive approach to the coordination of stock replenishment, ensuring stock levels consistently maintained; coordination of the dispatch of wholesale and online sales orders; generation of stock and supplier reports; updating inventory databases; and liaising with stock suppliers. They will be integral to the success of our dedicated exhibition. The Senior Inventory Officer will develop and contribute to effective relationships, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Inventory Officer is responsible for the management of one direct report, and works closely with the EL1 Manager, Retail, and wider retail operations team. They also work closely with the Finance team on stock reporting. The key duties of the position include: Lead inventory coordination across the 5 retail channels, online, flagship, exhibition, wholesale and distribution, ensuring stock accuracy and timely movement of goods. Support the Manager, Retail in development and delivery of retail product ranges by assisting with supplier liaison, documentation, and tracking activities. Assist with procurement and contract administration processes, including raising purchase orders, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with relevant frameworks and guidelines. Maintain and update inventory at two storage locations and two retail locations, and update sales databases, ensuring data integrity and supporting reporting requirements for the Commercial Business Unit. Prepare and maintain administrative documentation such as meeting records, schedules, procurement logs, and inventory reports. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support operational delivery of retail and exhibition-related stock requirements. Contribute to research and benchmarking activities to inform product planning and support continuous improvement initiatives. Apply sound administrative practices to ensure compliance with procurement, inventory, and record‑keeping procedures in line with government and Museum standards. Demonstrate a strong commitment to Work Health and Safety (WH&S) by actively supporting a positive safety culture, following the Museum’s WHS policies and procedures, and complying with reasonable instructions to ensure alignment with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
