The opportunity We are looking for a highly conceptual and strategically‑minded Freelance Senior Designer to join our in-house creative team for 4 months. This role is pivotal in driving the creative vision, concepting, and executing high‑impact marketing materials for Pet Circle. You will leverage your deep understanding of design principles and your proficiency with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to innovate and elevate our creative output across a comprehensive range of channels, including: branding, digital and email campaigns, web and app content, social media, digital marketing assets, packaging, and print. What you’ll be doing Lead Creative Conceptualisation: Take ownership of complex creative briefs, translating strategic business objectives into brilliant, original design and campaign concepts that place customer needs at the forefront. Strategic Storytelling: Work cross‑functionally to concept and present compelling narratives to build integrated campaigns that extend across motion, stills and social. Storyboarding and production: Working collaboratively with Design Manager, Production, Campaign Leads and Brand Director, to take projects from ideation through to writing storyboards, working on set and leading post‑production process, including selecting key art, refining scripts and VO and creating overlays and lock‑ups. Strategic Brand Stewardship: Develop and deliver creative visuals that consistently reflect Pet Circle's objectives, authenticity, and values. You will play a key role in evolving our core brand identity, maintaining brand consistency, and developing new style guides and templates. Mentorship & Execution: Provide guidance and elevate the craft of the wider team, ensuring all final assets are flawlessly executed and strategically aligned. AI‑Driven Innovation: Act as the team's expert in utilising Generative AI tools (image, text, and other media) to dramatically accelerate concept iteration, enhance design quality, and discover new visual styles and solutions, while establishing best practices for AI integration. The ideal toolbox Senior‑Level Expertise: Proven experience (typically 7+ years) in a senior design role, demonstrating a portfolio of highly conceptual and strategically impactful work. Advanced AI Proficiency: Deep, practical experience using AI prompting tools (e.g., Nano Banna, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL‑E) for ideation, production of final assets, and exploration of visual styles. A strong understanding of the ethical considerations and legal implications of using Generative AI. Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency across the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma. Experience in UI/UX design principles and any motion graphics/2D or 3D animation are a significant plus. End‑to‑End Ownership: A comprehensive understanding of the entire design process, from initial concept generation through to final production and delivery across multiple media types. Leadership & Collaboration: A proactive, can‑do attitude with proven success working collaboratively, driving projects forward autonomously, and contributing valuable insights in team and stakeholder meetings. Role location We believe that building connections and collaborating as Pet Circlers is super important. So this role is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement in our pet friendly offices (your pet might love coming to the office even more than you). We are open to part‑time or full‑time hours for the duration of the contract.
