KJ is a Martu organisation based in Newman, Western Australia, delivering cultural, environmental and leadership programs across the Western Desert. Guided by Martu elders, KJ works in partnership with Martu to strengthen culture, community and future opportunities. We’re looking for a Learning and Development Coordinator — someone practical, organised and community-minded — to help keep our learning and leadership programs running smoothly. You’ll work alongside the Area Lead to coordinate learning and development approach throughout the organisation. Specifically supporting two key programs: Wama Wangka, and the Martu Leadership Program. You’ll handle logistics, support camps and gatherings, and make sure people, vehicles and gear are in the right place at the right time. This role suits someone who can plan ahead, roll up their sleeves, and travel regularly both on and off Country. It’s also a chance to learn and grow — over time, you’ll develop facilitation and leadership skills that could lead to stepping up into more senior roles. What you’ll be doing Organise logistics for on-Country and off-Country camps, meetings and workshops. Support Martu leaders and participants before, during and after activities. Build respectful relationships with Martu, partners and staff. Keep track of travel, budgets and equipment. Help capture stories, photos and feedback from program activities. You’ll bring Cross-cultural experience and cultural sensitivity (experience with Martu communities is highly regarded). Strong logistics, planning, and coordination skills. The ability to build trust and communicate clearly. A flexible, can-do approach and readiness to travel. Work alongside Martu elders and community.
