As the Grants & Philanthropy Lead at Mum Walk Australia, you will play a crucial role in helping us secure the funding needed to scale our impact, launch new walks, and continue offering free, safe, inclusive community connection for mums nationwide. About Mum Walk Australia Mum Walk is a charity dedicated to reducing social isolation and improving the mental wellbeing of mums through connection, movement and community care. We run Free weekly walks and meet‑ups across Australia, helping mums find new friends, get outdoors, and feel supported during one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives. What began as a small community initiative has grown into a nationwide movement supporting thousands of mums each month. In our first year we grew from 0 to 50 walks. In our goal is to grow to 100 walks. Our values are inclusion, accessibility, joy and community connection. About the Role The Grants & Philanthropy Lead is a key member of Mum Walk's fundraising and sustainability team. You will lead the identification, development and submission of grant applications, while building relationships with funders, philanthropic bodies, councils, health services and aligned partners. Working closely with the Founder / CEO, Treasurer and committee, you will help shape a funding pipeline that supports Mum Walk's rapid national growth. This includes writing compelling grant applications, coordinating supporting materials, gathering impact data, and ensuring transparent reporting and acquittals. This role is ideal for someone with experience in grants, fundraising, communications, philanthropy or impact storytelling. The position is flexible and autonomous, with an estimated commitment of hours per month, depending on grant cycles. Grant Identification & Pipeline Building Research and identify suitable funding opportunities across councils, government programs, health and wellbeing bodies, women's initiatives, community grants and philanthropic foundations. Maintain and manage a grants calendar, tracking deadlines and key dates. Assess grant eligibility and alignment with Mum Walk's mission and programs. Grant Writing & Submission Lead the drafting, writing and editing of grant applications. Coordinate supporting documents, budgets and program details in collaboration with the Founder / CEO and Treasurer. Tailor narratives to reflect the impact of Mum Walk's community programs, including data, stories and case studies. Fundraising & Philanthropy Support the development of a philanthropy strategy to engage trusts, foundations and major donors. Help craft pitch decks, proposals and reports for potential funders. Contribute insights to partnership opportunities aligned with maternal wellbeing and community connection. Reporting & Acquittals Oversee grant acquittal processes, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant reporting. Gather data and impact stories from walk leaders and participants to demonstrate outcomes. Provide regular updates to the Treasurer and Committee on funding progress and pipeline health. Collaboration & Governance Attend monthly Committee meetings and quarterly planning sessions. Collaborate with walk leaders, admin volunteers and the Treasurer to access information needed for funding submissions. Ensure all grant and philanthropy practices align with Mum Walk's values, brand and child‑safe policies. Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience in grant writing, philanthropy, fundraising or related fields. Strong written communication skills and the ability to translate community stories into compelling cases for support. Experience researching and assessing funding opportunities in the NFP space. Ability to coordinate multiple deadlines and manage detail with accuracy. Familiarity with NFP structures, impact reporting or budgets (desirable).
