The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it’s an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future. The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over three million visitors annually. The MCC is the largest sporting club in the country with over 150,000 members and also manages 13 sporting sections with participation over 2,600. The Australian Sports Museum (ASM) has its home at the MCG, celebrating the country’s rich sporting history, which is also managed by the MCC. The IT and Innovation department is responsible for the delivery and management of information and communication technology (ICT), security, as well as operational integrity of technology. It also evaluates new and emerging technologies and innovations and is responsible for the development of organisationally aligned ICT strategies to enable the business to achieve strategic goals and improve operation effectiveness. About the role A great opportunity for an experienced IT professional with strong technical skills, has arisen in this team for an AV & Digital Systems Technician. Reporting to the AV & Broadcast Lead, the key requirements of this role will include (however not limited to): Provide technical support for the audio, video and Digital systems, and related equipment moves, additions, and changes. Providing input into new acquisitions of IT AV assets and upgrades. Coordinate and oversee the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and repair of Internet Protocol (IP) based audio‑video (IPTV) systems and related hardware. Coordinate the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and repair of AV equipment. Collaborating with the business to develop standard operating procedures and processes for Event and Non‑Event Day operations of the Audio, Visual, and Digital Systems. Provide day‑to‑day level 1 support for operations to all business systems. Perform hands‑on fixes at the desktop level. Collaborating with the AV & Broadcast Lead to identify and capitalise on opportunities to use information and technology to improve product, service and/or business processes working with relevant departments to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of new and existing Digital systems solutions. Adhering to and maintaining information security standards, compliance and governance needs within the business. Defining, developing and implementing quality assurance practices and procedures. Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with internal staff, contractors and vendors. Providing technical day‑to‑day support for audio, video, and digital systems. Research and evaluate new AV products and technologies. Work with the IT & I team to deliver high‑quality, strategically aligned outcomes for the organisation. Provide onsite event day support on a rostered basis, and. Provide afterhours support as required. Collaborating with the business and 3rd party consultants in the development of business cases and proposals that leverage existing and emerging technologies for the benefit of the business. About You To be successful in this technical role, it is essential that you are: A self‑starter with a can‑do attitude with minimum 2‑5 years working experience in a similar role with A/V installations. 1‑2 years IT Service Desk Experience in a customer‑facing role is desirable. Experience with IPTV systems (Wipro VisionEDGE or similar) desirable but not mandatory. Broadcast experience and knowledge of systems is desirable. ITIL 4 certification and experience with related IT systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira) are desirable but not mandatory. A strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail with ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical staff. Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to consistently meet timeframes. Ability to understand and apply new concepts, demonstrated by a genuine interest in learning about new technologies and their application. Proven problem‑solving skills demonstrated by ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions and actively work to resolve issues. This role interacts with internal and external stakeholders, so it is important that you have a collaborative, can do and respectful approach to your work and are team focused with a natural ability to develop strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You will also have well‑developed communication skills both written & verbal, as well as be results focused, with a desire to work towards excellence in service and solution. Qualification A diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline. What’s in it for you?
