Senior Bookkeeper

What you'll be doing Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Prepare and process payments in a timely manner. Occasional relief and support to the Payroll Officer; knowledge of human resource legislation is advantageous. Reconcile bank statements daily and credit card accounts on a monthly basis. Manage and maintain the company's bookkeeping system, ensuring data integrity and compliance with accounting standards. Prepare monthly management reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Prepare annual financial statements and liaise with external Accountants. Perform end-of-year roll over. Provide support and guidance to the accounting team as needed, and cover for staff on the accounts team. What we're looking for Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably in a medium‑sized to large‑sized business. Ability to work Monday to Friday. On‑site only – remote or hybrid arrangements are not available. Experience with Triumph accounting software or willingness to learn; proficiency with MYOB accounting software is required for Portobello Foods. Proficient in maintaining inventory, profit and loss, and balance sheet coding systems. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Thorough understanding of accounting principles and knowledge of ATO processes related to BAS/PAYG returns, Payroll Tax, etc. Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.
