Key Information Salary: $155k - $178k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading Employment type: Full time (35 hours) Location: Canberra, Australia Reporting to: Head of School, no direct reports Responsibilities Apply a well‑defined teaching philosophy and critically reflective practice that inspires student learning. Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements, and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy. Design and develop learning activities, resources, assessment and feedback using suitable approaches at course and program levels. Lead design/development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning and share them with colleagues. Support learning progression with students individually and as a cohort to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes. Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance. Maintain and develop relationships within the discipline industry and profession. Identify and apply for internal education funding opportunities. Keep professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and professional accreditation current. Contribute to school meetings, seminars and committees; be a member of School/Faculty committees as required. Engage in UNSW’s Education Focused community to drive educational excellence across the university. Collaborate with peers across UNSW to develop teaching strategies, resources and mentor staff. Identify and control hazards and risks for tasks, projects and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your responsibility area. Supervise student research projects in the Graduate Diploma of Advanced Psychology. Provide academic leadership and oversight for the research component of the Graduate Diploma in Advanced Psychology. Align with and demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values. Cooperate with all health & safety policies and procedures of the university. Qualifications and Experience A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience. Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and development. Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. Experience implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods. Evidence of teaching effectiveness, passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others. Experience with industry or work‑integrated learning. Evidence of professional development of teaching practice and leadership in inclusive culture. Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement. Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills. Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds; support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. Ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives. Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values; familiarity with relevant policies and guidelines.
