Picton High School (~1150 students including 120 ATSI) is a comprehensive secondary school in the Wollondilly Shire. We are located outside of Southern Sydney and have a regional outlook. Our school was rebuilt in 2022, with innovative learning spaces and specialist facilities. Students are offered a diverse curriculum including targeted literacy and numeracy programs in Stage 4 and extensive vocational education opportunities in stages 5 and 6. The school has seven feeder primary schools, approximately 100 teachers and support staff and eleven support classes as of 2024. Our school prioritises wellbeing, literacy and numeracy and future-focused and innovative teaching practices to engage students. We currently have eleven classes in our support unit catering for a range of individual needs.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, moderate and mild intellectual disabilities, and other complex needs.
- Demonstrated quality classroom practice with knowledge of effective and inclusive teaching pedagogy to cater for the diverse range of abilities within a support unit classroom.
- Evidence of effective classroom management skills to promote an inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to develop positive relationships and establish effective partnerships with parents, support agencies and colleagues to achieve improved learning outcomes for students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
