Our vision is to ensure women, children and families are safe, secure, connected and provided with the opportunity and environment to thrive. We are seeking to appoint two Non‑Executive Directors / Board members. This is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about our mission to contribute to the leadership and governance of our organisation. The roles require participating in approximately six board meetings and six committee meetings a year, as well as advocating for the organisation and attending community events. Organisation Context We manage two refuges; Bringa Women and Children’s Refuge in the Northern Beaches and Delvena Women and Children’s Refuge in the Lower North Shore. In addition, we provide crisis accommodation for women and children escaping domestic violence. We also provide ongoing case management for women and children living in our transitional housing in the community. Our services include: Domestic Violence Services: including crisis accommodation and transitional housing. Northern Beaches Family Support Service. Advice, information, and referral. Ongoing case management. Counselling. Domestic violence support groups. Parenting skills groups, including Circle of Security, learning to play with children, understanding children’s emotions. About You We are specifically looking to expand our capability skills set in the areas of Fundraising, Legal, IT and Fundraising; one or more of these disciplines will be highly regarded. Board experience and/or AICD (or similar) certification an advantage. Knowledge of non-executive director responsibilities including governance, legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial responsibilities. DV / Homelessness sector knowledge or experience an advantage. Strategic expertise evidenced by an ability to review strategy through constructive questioning and contribute to effective board decision making. Financial ability such that can read and comprehend organisational financial accounts and related material. Legal capability to the extent that can effectively oversee compliance with relevant laws as well as understanding the non-executive director’s individual duties and responsibilities.
