The Maintenance and Grounds Person at Tanjil South Primary School is responsible for maintaining the school grounds, buildings, and facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role requires sound judgement, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to perform a variety of hands‑on maintenance, repair, and general duties across the school. Responsibilities Undertake minor building repairs and general maintenance (e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing tasks) Maintain school grounds including lawn mowing, weeding, and general landscaping Assist with manual handling tasks, deliveries, moving furniture, and setting up for school events Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance needs Ensure compliance with OHS and relevant safety standards Liaise with contractors and suppliers when required Maintain maintenance logs and records as directed Selection Criteria KSC1 Demonstrated experience in building or grounds maintenance, repair, or related trades. KSC2 A strong work ethic, eye for detail and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard as well as the ability to work independently and to follow instructions KSC3 Sound understanding of OHS standards and maintenance procedures in a school setting. KSC4 Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and contractors. KSC5 Commitment to child safety and the values of a government school environment This is a part time roll at 7.6 hours per week. Day and time of working hours may be flexible as negotiated with the Principal.
