The Opportunity Work as part of the broader Sydney Municipal Collections team, covering regions from South Sydney through to the Central Coast. Based at Somersby, you’ll oversee a large heavy‑vehicle fleet and lead a skilled team of mechanics, apprentices, and support staff to ensure our assets remain safe, compliant, and ready for daily service. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced operational environment, enjoys solving problems, and brings both technical knowledge and strong people leadership. Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Oversee day‑to‑day workshop operations across Somersby & Mt Kuring‑gai sites, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance. Ensure fleet maintenance, servicing, and repairs are completed on time to support operational requirements. Coordinate with third‑party providers to minimise downtime and keep fleet availability high. Work closely with Operations teams to meet service expectations and collaborate on daily priorities. Monitor workshop budgets, consumables, and resource planning. Drive training, coaching, and development within the workshop team. About You Proven leadership experience in a workshop within the waste or transport industry is desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, influence, and build rapport. A solutions‑driven mindset with the ability to make decisions quickly and effectively. Understanding of NHVR, CoR, and compliance requirements. A mechanical or electrical trade background (highly desirable). HR license or willingness to obtain one.
