Commonwealth Government Financial statement preparation experience Ongoing position / remote work Our client has a vacancy for a Senior Financial Accountant to work with their Finance team within the Corporate Services division. The team is responsible for the delivery of Finance, including maintaining appropriate internal financial and fraud controls and governance to manage resources within budget. The role leads a small team to deliver efficient, high quality financial operational services. The financial operations team is responsible for the Commission's accounts receivable and payable functions, cash management, fixed asset management, Comcover insurance reporting and claims processing, procurement support, official travel contract administration, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations, month end processes and statutory reporting requirements. You will be responsible for statutory reporting compliance and providing advice on the application of accounting standards and the Commonwealth Financial Reporting Rule, as they apply to the Commission as a Corporate Commonwealth Entity under the PGPA Act. You will draft accounting position papers for consideration by the Australian National Audit Office and provide high quality advice to the CFO on managing risk within the financial operations team. Suitable candidates must have experience in a Commonwealth Government finance function including experience in liaising with officials from other agencies, such as the Department of Finance and the Australian National Audit Office. You will have demonstrated organisational and analytical skills including the ability to supervise and coordinate activities, resources and people to achieve high quality outcomes in a hybrid working environment. You will be a CPA or have CA membership and have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
