Applications are via eCredential The Psychological Medicine department at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick (SCH) is seeking a permanent part‑time or full‑time Staff Specialist (Up to 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) to join their team. Eligible candidates must be registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist or be on an overseas trained specialist pathway. Trainees who are expected to complete their Fellowship of the RANZCP within the next 6 months may also apply. What You’ll Be Doing The role requires the provision of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry specialist services to the Department of Psychological Medicine at SCH and on‑call privileges at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW). Responsibilities include delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families, providing research and teaching focused on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and supervising junior medical staff. The psychiatrist will also provide telepsychiatry services to rural health services, manage in‑patients in Hall Ward and Saunders Unit, and attend on‑call rosters as required. Clinical Teams Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability Mental Health Team Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit Consultation‑Liaison Team Psychosomatic Disorders and Gender Dysphoria Team Eating Disorders Team Qualifications Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained specialist pathway. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Fellowship of the RANZCP or equivalent specialist recognition. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide team leadership. Demonstrated effective clinical communication, including information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills and conflict resolution. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement. Availability to participate in an on‑call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time. Experience with a wide range of treatment methods including psychotherapeutic approaches and the use of psychotropic medications.
