Learn more about our network: Applications are via eCredential The Community Child Health department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick is seeking a permanent 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) Staff Specialist to join their team. What you'll be doing To participate in and support activities of the Department of Community Child Health, Sydney Children’s Hospital. This is an exciting and innovative role to support clinical, teaching, training and research work provided by the Department of Community Child Health within SCHN. The role addresses healthy beginnings, priority populations and transforming health systems whilst keeping the voice of the child, and family and community at the centre of all work the department does. The role involves service development, managing a caseload of patients and supervision of JMOs whilst provides the opportunity to be a Conjoint UNSW researcher in the UNSW Population Child Health research group. PRIVILEGES: Full admitting, outpatient & consulting privileges.ON-CALL: pro-rata Child Protection Medicine rosterCOMMITTEES: As relevant to the above activities & negotiated with the CCH Department.CLINICS vary and may include: Aboriginal and refugee clinics Developmental and behavioural paediatric clinics including the assessment and management of ADHD and other developmental conditions Outreach clinics at Wollongong hospital for refugee clients Outreach clinic at Wagga Wagga for developmental clinics EDUCATION: presentations to community and hospital professionals, and other agencies Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff. Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award. Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist (Community Child Health), and/or overseas trained specialist pathways Demonstrated experience in the practice of Community Paediatrics and experience of working with Aboriginal and CALD families. Demonstrated training or experience in clinical / forensic child protection medicine or willingness to undertake training to undertake the negotiated pro-rata on-call responsibilities of this position. Evidence of commitment to research, health systems, change and advocacy beyond direct clinical care Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement. Availability to participate in an on‑call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time. The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the relevant University. The academic title will be held for the duration of The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network for clinical matters. Need more information?
