Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position Job Description The Client Quinn Interiors Pty Ltd in Diggers Rest in VIC specialises in residential and commercial painting and are known for providing top‑quality professional painting solutions. They now seek an experienced Painter to join their team. Responsibilities Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate as well as protect interior or exterior surfaces. Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary. Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor/homeowner regarding painting. Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, brushes or steel wool; remove old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scraper, wire brush or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting. Maintain building interiors by cleaning, removing old paint and wallpaper, and fixing woodwork. Fill holes, smooth cracks, seal surfaces and apply coats of paint, varnish or stain enamel to decorate and protect other fillers. Select and prepare paints to required colours by mixing pigment and oil thinning and drying additives. Clean equipment and work areas and adhere to OHS. Make on‑site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures, and fill nail holes, cracks and joints with caulk, putty or plaster. Select premixed paints or mix required pigment and oil for colours; paint surfaces according to instructions with brushes, spray gun and rollers. Thin and dry substances to prepare paint that matches specified colours. Remove fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers before painting. Spread drop cloths over floors and furnishings, and cover surfaces such as baseboards, door frames and windows to protect during painting. Create special effects such as wood grain, marble, brick or tile by applying paint with cloth, brush, sponge or fingers. Put up scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover using a brush; apply wallpaper fabrics. Estimate costs involved and negotiate prices. Qualifications AQF Certificate III relevant qualifications. At least 2 years’ experience in painting role in the painting and decorating industry. At least 2 years’ painting experience in a professional and commercial setting. At least 2 years’ experience in high‑performance and protective coatings. At least 2 years’ experience using specialised materials suited for high‑traffic environments: anti‑graffiti, waterproofing membranes, epoxy floor systems. At least 2 years’ experience in chemical stripping, abrasive blasting and power washing techniques for surface preparation. Construction Induction Card. Good understanding of colour theory and various finish types. Physical dexterity to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment and stand for long periods. Additional tickets, EWP and relevant licences will be looked upon favourably. Open to working in a regional location, willing to travel to different job sites as required by project demands.
