Location: Rockingham, Western Australia Employment type: Full-time (average 38 hours per week) Position: Permanent Position Overview The City of Rockingham is located 40km south of the Perth CBD and is one of the fastest growing local governments in the south metropolitan area. Responsibilities In this role, you will provide specialist advice on planning matters to all departments and, in some cases, the general public within the City of Rockingham. Your duties include assessing a range of complex urban planning applications and preparing reports for Council meetings and the Planning and Asset Services Committee and Development Assessment Panel. You will also provide advice to other staff members as required, particularly in regards to complex statutory planning matters. Qualifications and Experience You possess a strong understanding of statutory planning and knowledge of the planning framework within local government. Your extensive practical experience within the urban planning industry compliments your knowledge of planning legislation and policies. A current ’C’ class driver’s licence is a requirement for this role. Comprehensive knowledge of urban planning administrative and statutory procedures and policies, particularly the Residential Design Codes Comprehensive knowledge of planning legislation, Acts and statutes Extensive practical experience in the profession of urban planning Degree in Urban Planning or equivalent in a related field Highly developed written and verbal communication skills Salary and Benefits We are offering a gross salary of $108,076 to $115,081 per annum and: 12% superannuation with the opportunity to co‑contribute up to 5% A variety of health and wellbeing programmes including a physical health reimbursement subsidy payment of up to $200 per annum, free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services Flexible working arrangements such as a fortnightly rostered day off and two additional paid days of absence per annum Training and development opportunities including paid study leave and study fees Salary packaging opportunities for motor vehicles, etc. Application Deadline Applications must be submitted online by 4pm Wednesday 26 November 2025 .
