We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Programmer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates for both metal fabrication and steel processing projects , while also programming and nesting parts for laser cutting machine. This role combines technical programming expertise with commercial estimating skills and will suit a detail‑oriented professional with hands‑on experience in the steel or manufacturing industry. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for fabrication and steel processing jobs. Read and interpret technical drawings and customer specifications. Program and nest parts for laser cutting machines using relevant CAD/CAM software. Optimise material utilisation and machine efficiency through effective nesting strategies. Liaise with suppliers for material pricing and subcontractor quotes. Support production teams with accurate cutting lists, job packs, and nesting programs. Maintain and update pricing databases, machine parameters, and production templates. Communicate with customers to clarify specifications and provide technical support. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across estimating and programming functions. Skills and Experience Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in estimating and programming within a steel fabrication or processing environment. Proficient in laser nesting software (e.g. Cypnest) Strong understanding of sheet metal, plate processing, and fabrication workflows . Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models. Experience preparing quotes for laser cutting, bending, and fabrication projects . Excellent computer literacy and attention to detail. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work to deadlines in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Knowledge of CNC programming and other processing equipment (plate rolling, press brake, etc.). Experience with ERP or job management systems.
