STEEL OPERATIONS MANAGER

Paddock to Port is a multi-faceted transport and warehouse company based in Laverton North and given recent business expansion now requires a Steel Operations Manager to oversee the warehouse operations of its steel business. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of our steel warehouse — managing the team and ensuring a seamless workflow. You will be responsible for managing the steel division in its entirety, so a solid understanding of machinery operation and production flow is essential. Key responsibilities include planning and directing production schedules, managing inventory and supply chains, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards. There will be a heavy focus on customer services and interaction, which will involve travel to inter capital cities to meet with customers on a regular basis. Core responsibilities include: Logistics and Supply Chain: Manage the flow of steel products from wharf to unpack to delivery, coordinate with logistics providers, and ensure timely and efficient distribution. Inventory and Procurement: Oversee inventory control to ensure correct product is outturned. Quality and Safety: Implement and enforce quality control procedures and health and safety protocols to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Financial Management: Manage budgets and forecasts, monitor financial data, and make decisions to improve profitability. Staff Management: Manage staff and foster a positive and inclusive work culture. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer service by implementing new processes and best practices. Stakeholder Relations: Liaise with customers, sales teams, and suppliers to align operations with business objectives and meet customer expectations. You will have: An extensive background in steel operations with a strong customer services focus. Strong leadership with the ability to effectively manage teams, productivity levels, workplace safety and compliance. Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
