Go back Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Booking Coordinator and Pathway Tracker The closing date is 11 November 2025 We are looking for a well‑organised and enthusiastic individual to join our Ophthalmology Surgery booking team. You must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise your workload effectively and have excellent communication skills. You must be able to work both independently and within the team; liaise with staff at all levels in a confident manner and be willing to learn. This is a busy role that would require an individual who can adapt to fulfilling a range of tasks and duties. Knowledge of 18 week RTT rule is desirable but full training on all aspects of the role will be given. You must be able to uphold the Trust values of Safe, Kind and Excellent at all times. Main duties of the job Actively monitor the waiting list for Ophthalmology, booking patients for both local and general anaesthetists' procedures in line with waiting times and priority scores. Booking pre and post assessments and all other necessary appointments relevant to patient's surgery. Communicating with patients, staff and all relevant stakeholders of all levels face‑to‑face and by phone and email. Close attention to detail updating patients, notes, records and tracking RTT pathways. Person Specification Qualifications GCSE Maths & English or equivalent Customer Service/ Business Admin /ITQ or equivalent professional experience Training on managing patient pathways Experience Experience of working within a clinical setting Prioritising, planning and organising own and others tasks Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations Data entry experience and documentation Previous experience of working in NHS Previous experience of working with medical records Experience of working with EPIC hospital system Experience of running reception areas for outpatient clinics Knowledge Confidentiality and data protection processes and procedures Good working knowledge of office procedures and all Microsoft office packages Knowledge of the Trust including awareness of priorities Knowledge of Trust information systems EPIC, Envoy and MyChart Knowledge of RTT targets and elective access policy Skills Ability to manage/work as part of a team Excellent communication skills including telephone, email, face to face Ability to organise and manage own time and others to keep to a schedule and deadlines Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously Excellent IT skills - ability to use Microsoft office applications including spreadsheet and email Willing to take on / learn new skills Ability to show attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work under pressure and with short notice demands Able to negotiate and develop good working relationships To be flexible in response to Service needs Ability to think laterally and an innovative approach to problem solving Additional Requirements The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of Together - safe, kind, excellent.
