About the role In this position you will be responsible for the teaching delivery of RMIT UP’s Foundation Studies Global Studies course. Duties include assessment, monitoring academic progress of students, contributing to the development of the Foundation Studies curriculum and providing an outstanding student experience. This course introduces Foundation Programme students to the political, social, cultural, environmental and economic forces that shape interactions between states and nations. The unit examines the interconnectedness of the contemporary global political arena and the impact of globalisation on culture, sovereignty, human rights and the environment, whilst developing an understanding of contemporary global issues. It also addresses the nature and power of key nations with emphasis on the effect on countries in the Asia‑Pacific region. Key subject themes Globalisation and the Asia‑Pacific region The nature of contemporary politics and power Regional and global issues, conflict and challenges Responses to global crises by nations and territories Qualifications A recognised degree relevant to the course being taught. Formal qualification in education delivery and/or demonstrated teaching expertise in a second discipline area, OR a minimum of two years’ relevant teaching experience, including a breadth of experience delivering to students from non‑English‑speaking backgrounds. Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering and assessing Foundation Studies or equivalent courses. Capacity to identify learning problems in students, propose and implement effective strategies. Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team. Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies. Experience teaching in a Foundation Studies or year‑12 equivalent program educating international students. Experience teaching in a tertiary setting. TESOL (English Language Teaching Qualification) for teachers responsible for English subject areas. Proven collegiality and the ability to share ideas.
