Casual Foundation Studies Teacher – Maths Casual hourly rate: Teaching rate is $86.49 and the non‑teaching rate is $66.29. Semester 1 dates: 27 Jan 2026 to 5 June 2026. Location: Franklin Street, Melbourne. Discipline area: Mathematics. Seeking applications from qualified teachers with experience in teaching international students. About the Role In this position you will be responsible for the teaching delivery of one or more of RMIT UP’s Foundation Studies Mathematics courses. Duties include assessment, monitoring student progress, contributing to curriculum development, and providing an outstanding student experience. The course introduces Foundation STEM students to a range of mathematical principles across four key areas: General Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics, Applied Mathematics (Engineering and Science), and Statistics and Probability. Key Subject Themes General Mathematics : Introduces linear algebra, networks, vectors, matrices, measurement and trigonometry; develops analysis, problem‑solving and technology use. Advanced Mathematics : Builds financial mathematics, algebra, functions, exponentials, logarithms and circular functions for further tertiary study. Applied Mathematics (Engineering and Science) : Covers integral and differential calculus, differential equations, numerical methods and complex numbers. Statistics and Probability : Covers univariate and bivariate data, time series, probability and its distributions, sampling and hypothesis testing. About You – Essential A recognised degree relevant to the course being taught. A formal qualification in the delivery of education and/or at least two years of relevant teaching experience, including experience with students from non‑English speaking backgrounds. Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering and assessing Foundation Studies or equivalent courses. Capacity to identify learning problems in students, propose and implement effective strategies. Proven ability to contribute effectively as a constructive, proactive member of a team. Strong skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies. About You – Desirable Experience teaching in a Foundation Studies or Year 12 equivalent program for international students. Experience teaching in a tertiary setting. TESOL (English Language Teaching Qualification) for teachers responsible for English subjects. Proven collegiality and the ability to share ideas. Knowledge of current pedagogical practices.
