Building Alchemist Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Site Manager / Carpenter to join our team and lead residential construction projects across the Sydney region. This is a full-time, hybrid role combining traditional site management responsibilities with hands‑on carpentry work . Ideal for someone who is equally comfortable coordinating trades, managing site operations, and stepping onto the tools when required. We anticipate that site management responsibilities will occupy approximately half the workday , with the remainder spent supporting the build through carpentry and general site tasks. This role is perfect for a proactive, solutions‑focused professional who enjoys a mix of leadership and craftsmanship. Site Management (approx. 50%) Coordinate and supervise all on‑site construction activities. Manage subcontractors and trades to ensure smooth workflow and high‑quality outcomes. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and progress, proactively addressing delays or issues. Maintain compliance with all WHS and environmental regulations. Liaise with clients, designers, engineers, and internal stakeholders, providing clear progress updates. Oversee daily site documentation, scheduling, and basic reporting. Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and site resources. Hands‑On Carpentry & Site Work (approx. 50%) Carry out carpentry tasks including framing, fix‑out, cladding, and other trade‑related activities. Support the build team with general labour, problem‑solving, and onsite practical tasks where required. Ensure workmanship meets Building Alchemist’s high quality standards. Mentor apprentices and junior staff through both technical skill and professional development. What We’re Looking For Minimum 3 years’ experience in residential construction, Leading Hand, or Foreman role. Strong carpentry skills with proven on‑the‑tools capability. Excellent understanding of construction methods, sequencing, materials, and tools. Confident in reading and interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications. Strong communication and leadership qualities—able to manage trades and build trust with clients. Highly organised with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to drive a project forward. Working knowledge of WHS requirements and site compliance. Relevant trade qualification (Carpentry required). Additional construction management qualifications highly regarded.
