Aboriginal Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Support Worker - Youth P0310 Position Title: Aboriginal Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Support Worker - Youth Duration: Full-time Fixed term, until 30 June 2027 Base Salary: $72,413 - $77,931 per annum as per Classification HPCS 2.1 - 2.4 This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT) WHO ARE WE? Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory. ABOUT THE ROLE The SEWB Support Worker will work in partnership with their multidisciplinary team to support youth and families in their social and emotional well‑being. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering holistic health services and provide culturally safe and trauma informed support that promotes wellbeing and links youth with the SEWB support they need. The SEWB Support worker is expected to provide information, education, advocacy, assessments, and brief interventions to encourage and support client’s wellbeing. The SEWB support worker will also facilitate group sessions that empower and support community and promote mental health. WHAT YOU WILL DO Maintain regular contact with clients within the scope of practice who have been referred by clinics, other providers, or self‑referral to SEWB. Work with a strengths‑based approach to develop, implement, and monitor a case management plan to address specific client needs in collaboration with the SEWB multi‑disciplinary team. Provide intervention and support to clients who are at risk of psychosocial distress or experiencing low acuity concerns. Within the worker’s expertise and skills, identify immediate risks and needs, explore possible interventions, develop and implement support plans, and facilitate referrals. Other duties as required, consistent with skills and experience, as directed by the relevant member of DDHS. SELECTION CRITERIA Identify as Aboriginal. Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous people and the ability to communicate effectively and in a culturally appropriate manner. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, standards and trends in the delivery of mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal people. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history and knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal children and families, youth and adults and those affected by Stolen Generations' policies and practices. Demonstrated ability to work within and maintain strict confidentiality guidelines and policies. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds to both obtain and convey information relevant to their care. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, carers and other professionals from diverse cultures. Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, with an ability to plan, manage and prioritise tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time and budget considerations. Proficiency in and commitment to the use of electronic information systems for the maintenance of clinical and service delivery records. Experience working in a community services program or community education program. Certificate qualifications in Community Services or equivalent.
